Time couldn't go any slower. Shay stood behind the counter in the bookstore at the Seattle Mall, watching the seconds tick away till she could leave. The girl hadn't the slightest idea why she had decided to work at the mall, it wasn't like she was close to home. She lived in Reganswood, though she didn't like the town much anymore. At six o'clock she could leave, at six o'clock she could live her life without someone asking 'where would my summer reading book be?'. Lashay loved her job, don't get her wrong, it was a dream to be surrounded by books. But the impatient adult couldn't wait to see Grey.
At the very moment the clock turned, Shay clocked out and raced for the door. The blond's big brown eyes searched for her car in parking lot. The red Jeep Rangler sat far on the other end. A sigh left Lashay's lips as she made her way toward the car, searching through her bag for the keys. Without keys she couldn't get anywhere. Relief filled her eyes as she clutched the shiny metal keys in her right hand. Brown eyes looked up from the ground only for Shay to find herself at the Jeep.
With a push of a button, the girl was able to slide into the tan leather seat. Within twenty minutes she'd be with Grey, oblivious to all her problems. Well, except one. Shay pulled out her cell and quickly texted him back before twisting the key and bringing her Jeep to life. Pulling out of the parking lot, the blond watched her phone vibrate in the passenger seat. Lashay didn't bother reading it yet, she loved Grey but when it came down to it she'd rather love him alive then dead.
The speedometer climbed higher and higher toward the speed limit. The girl was bound determined to reach Reganswood soon. Home, change clothes, ice cream parlor, Grey, Shay repeated in her head. She thought about just heading toward the parlor, her work uniform wasn't that bad. Her big brown eyes left the road for a moment looking down at her current attire. Would he mind? Shay figured he wouldn't, though it was nothing compared to what she usually wore.
'Welcome to Reganswood,' a sign said as she drove into the city. Though Lashay thought the sign ought to be changed to 'Welcome to Chemicals' as that was basically what ran the city and what stunk it up. With a roll of her eyes, the blond directed the Jeep toward the parlor. Fleeting glances at the dashboard clock told Shay it had taken her better part of twenty or so minutes to get back into the town. Moments later she pulled into the parking lot of the shop, taking only a second to make sure everything was in order before jumping out of the red Jeep. Foul odors hit her face as Lashay straightened out her white shirt. Welcome home? Her mind mused.
Chocolate brown eyes swept the area looking for one person. Grey. The girl honestly didn't care about the rest of the town's people at the moment, only him. Shay had known him for as long as she could remember, their relationship was unbreakable. He was the girls world. A giant smile played across her lips as she saw him taking up the entire bench. Typical Grey Greenly, the one and only Grey she knew and loved. Within seconds she was standing behind his head. Leaning down, Shay kissed his lips before smiling larger than before. "I'm here, so no more waiting," she whispered in his ear.
